As of January 1999, Hemet had a population of 61,139, according to the California Department of Finance. From June 1998 to June 1999, the City increased close to 300-dwelling units for occupancy. the median age is 41 years and has been dropping since 1980 when it was 64.2 years. The drop in median age is due, in large part, to the construction of new, entry-level homes and their sale to young families.
We're only a short drive away from the ocean, the mountains, the desert and big city life (San Diego and Los Angeles) with all the culture and diversity they have to offer.
We're a rapidly growing area of about 150,000 people, and a popular retirement destination with ample senior housing.
We boast a great educational system, including Mt. San Jacinto Junior College, and we're truly one of the last havens of affordable real estate in Southern California!
